Water Filtration Systems in Redbank

PBS Plumbing provides top-of-the-line water filtration systems for homes throughout Redbank. Our filtration systems ensure that you have cleaner, fresher water while protecting your pipes and appliances from damage caused by sediment and minerals. Many residents of Redbank notice that their water leaves a residue on fixtures, can cause problems with appliances, and has an unpleasant taste and/or smell.

When we install a water filtration system, we will first do a complete evaluation of your water supply (evaluate for taste and hardness) and how the water interacts with your household. Based on the results of this assessment and your preferences, we will design a water filtration system that provides you with dependable performance with minimum complexity.

All of the water filtration systems are installed by master plumbers, and all are provided with explanations of how to operate the system. Regular maintenance is scheduled for the long-term reliable operation of your water filtration system.

Twin vs Triple Filter System

Individuals on mains water usually don’t get much visible sediment (compared to individuals relying on tank water, for example); however, ultra-fine particles (i.e., particles that are smaller than 100 micron, the width of a human hair) can clog up carbon filters much quicker than anticipated and reduce water pressure. The issue of elevated sediment is especially prevalent in areas with known water quality issues or an influx of sediment; for example, due to public works, flooding, and drought, which are all common causes of elevated total suspended solids levels in mains water. So, whilst carbon filters do block sediment and it is possible to run a dual carbon system, consider whether a triple filter system with a sediment pre-filter and dual carbon set-up is more suitable.

Dual Carbon
Dual carbon will give the best result for reducing the maximum amount of chemicals on a whole house scale on mains water. The combination of filters we most commonly recommend is the maximum chemical reduction combination, which consists of:

Filter 1: 5 Micron sediment filter
Filter 2: 20 Micron low pressure drop coconut carbon – reduces chlorine without compromising on water pressure
Filter 3: Your choice of carbon block:
0.5 Micron chloramine reduction coconut carbon – composed of catalytic carbon, which has exceptional adsorption abilities (and can help to reduce chloramine, unlike standard activated carbon, which requires a longer contact time to reduce this chemical)
0.5 Micron lead (heavy metals) reduction coconut carbon – if you don’t get chloramine in your water source, consider this cartridge for the added benefit of reduced lead and other heavy metals

Three-Stage Water Filtration Systems for Redbank Households

The three-stage filtration system is widely used throughout Redbank because it can treat multiple water quality problems at once and provides clean water from every tap in the home.

Stage 1: Sediment Filter

This step removes sand, grit, rust and other small particles from your incoming water supply. These small particles can create blockages in your pipes, reduce your water pressure and cause internal damage to your appliances. By filtering out sediment at the entry point, this stage protects your plumbing system and provides a smoother flow of water throughout your entire home.

Stage 2: Water Softener

Mineral saturation from hard water creates scale buildup inside pipes, hot water systems and appliances. A water softener reduces minerals and, therefore, will help to eliminate the white residue left on taps, shower screens and increase the effectiveness of soaps and detergents. Softened water will allow appliances to operate more effectively and have a longer life by reducing the amount of internal scale deposits.

Stage 3: KDF/GAC Filter

The final stage is a combination of KDF and granular activated carbon (GAC). This combination will really help to reduce the amount of chlorine, heavy metals, bacteria/organisms, and organic compounds found in your drinking water. This stage will also greatly improve the taste and smell of the water to provide you with greater pleasure while using it for drinking, cooking, or other day-to-day activities. KDF/GAC works well on both whole-house and point-of-use filtration systems.
