Water Filters in Corinda
Corinda residents can rely on PBS Plumbing to provide solutions for filtering their drinking water to improve taste and quality daily. While the municipal water system contains no contaminants that exceed established safety limits, many Corinda residents are still having to cope with poor-tasting drinking water, mineral deposits, and sediment that contribute to appliance failure.
PBS Plumbing will analyse the various components of your home’s water supply to determine what type of filtration is required. The analysis will include taste and smell, hardness (or degree of scale formation), as well as visible residue on appliances and fixtures. Once the analysis has been completed, PBS Plumbing will recommend the best system for your household based on your specific needs, whether that be drinking water quality, appliance protection, or water feel against your skin.
All systems are installed by licensed master plumbers, who will explain how the system operates and provide scheduled maintenance so you will always know when a system performance decline is expected.
Twin vs Triple Filter System
Individuals on mains water usually don’t get much visible sediment (compared to individuals relying on tank water, for example); however, ultra-fine particles (i.e., particles that are smaller than 100 micron, the width of a human hair) can clog up carbon filters much quicker than anticipated and reduce water pressure. The issue of elevated sediment is especially prevalent in areas with known water quality issues or an influx of sediment; for example, due to public works, flooding, and drought, which are all common causes of elevated total suspended solids levels in mains water. So, whilst carbon filters do block sediment and it is possible to run a dual carbon system, consider whether a triple filter system with a sediment pre-filter and dual carbon set-up is more suitable.
Dual Carbon
Dual carbon will give the best result for reducing the maximum amount of chemicals on a whole house scale on mains water. The combination of filters we most commonly recommend is the maximum chemical reduction combination, which consists of:
Filter 1: 5 Micron sediment filter
Filter 2: 20 Micron low pressure drop coconut carbon – reduces chlorine without compromising on water pressure
Filter 3: Your choice of carbon block:
0.5 Micron chloramine reduction coconut carbon – composed of catalytic carbon, which has exceptional adsorption abilities (and can help to reduce chloramine, unlike standard activated carbon, which requires a longer contact time to reduce this chemical)
0.5 Micron lead (heavy metals) reduction coconut carbon – if you don’t get chloramine in your water source, consider this cartridge for the added benefit of reduced lead and other heavy metals
Benefits Of Our Filtration
Investing in a filtration system is a boon for your family’s health and well-being. By ensuring clean water, filtration systems shield your loved ones from harmful contaminants, fostering a safer environment at home. With purified water, hydration becomes more refreshing and beneficial, improving your internal health (such as digestive health) and external appearance (healthier skin and hair). Ultimately, such systems promote a healthier lifestyle, offering peace of mind and a safer haven for your family to thrive in.
Three-Stage Water Filtration System
The three-stage water filter system is the most commonly installed system for residents in Corinda and directly addresses the most common concerns residents have regarding their local water supply, such as:
- Sediment, including grit, rust, and minute particles
- Chlorinated municipal water system
- Trace amounts of heavy metals in your home’s municipal water supply
Stage 1: Sediment Removal System
The first stage of your filtering system is the sediment removal filter. The sediment filter is designed to capture sand, silt, and rust before it reaches your home plumbing system. The capture of the sediment at this stage allows for the reduction of clogs in your plumbing and appliances.
Stage 2: A Softener
The second stage of your filtering system is the water softener. Water softening systems are designed to eliminate the hardness-causing elements of the water, including calcium and magnesium. These substances often produce scale build-up on your showerhead, faucets, and appliances. Additionally, it will protect your hair and skin from the damaging effects of these elements.
Stage 3: KDF and GAC Filtering System
This final stage adds KDF technology combined with granular activated carbon (GAC) to remove or greatly decrease the concentration of heavy metals in your local municipal water supply, limit bacterial growth, and eliminate chlorine and other organic materials in your water. This will result in a more enjoyable tasting and smelling water and can be used as part of a whole-house or individual under-the-sink filtration system.
