Water Filtration System and Installation Brookfield
At PBS Plumbing, we offer a high-quality water filtration solution for all your household needs in Brookfield. Our water filtration systems make using water an easier and more enjoyable experience. To start with, we will perform an in-depth assessment of the quality of the water you are using. Once this is done, we will provide a custom filtration solution to address the most common concerns that you have regarding your water, whether it be poor-tasting water, dry skin caused by minerals in the water (hard water), or concerns regarding the life span of appliances due to scale build-up caused by hard water.
All water filtration systems provided by PBS Plumbing will be installed by licensed master plumbers who will take the time to provide you with a visual demonstration of how to use them and will also plan for ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Transparency is extremely important to PBS Plumbing. You will always know exactly what is in your water, how your water filtration system is functioning, and when to replace your filter(s). All components of our systems are sourced from suppliers that are specific to Australian conditions. Therefore, they are fully compliant with Australian regulatory requirements and are made from quality components, which gives you peace of mind in addition to having cleaner water.
Individuals on mains water usually don’t get much visible sediment (compared to individuals relying on tank water, for example); however, ultra-fine particles (i.e., particles that are smaller than 100 micron, the width of a human hair) can clog up carbon filters much quicker than anticipated and reduce water pressure. The issue of elevated sediment is especially prevalent in areas with known water quality issues or an influx of sediment; for example, due to public works, flooding, and drought, which are all common causes of elevated total suspended solids levels in mains water. So, whilst carbon filters do block sediment and it is possible to run a dual carbon system, consider whether a triple filter system with a sediment pre-filter and dual carbon set-up is more suitable.
Dual Carbon
Dual carbon will give the best result for reducing the maximum amount of chemicals on a whole house scale on mains water. The combination of filters we most commonly recommend is the maximum chemical reduction combination, which consists of:
Filter 1: 5 Micron sediment filter
Filter 2: 20 Micron low pressure drop coconut carbon – reduces chlorine without compromising on water pressure
Filter 3: Your choice of carbon block:
0.5 Micron chloramine reduction coconut carbon – composed of catalytic carbon, which has exceptional adsorption abilities (and can help to reduce chloramine, unlike standard activated carbon, which requires a longer contact time to reduce this chemical)
0.5 Micron lead (heavy metals) reduction coconut carbon – if you don’t get chloramine in your water source, consider this cartridge for the added benefit of reduced lead and other heavy metals
Benefits Of Our Filtration
Investing in a filtration system is a boon for your family’s health and well-being. By ensuring clean water, filtration systems shield your loved ones from harmful contaminants, fostering a safer environment at home. With purified water, hydration becomes more refreshing and beneficial, improving your internal health (such as digestive health) and external appearance (healthier skin and hair). Ultimately, such systems promote a healthier lifestyle, offering peace of mind and a safer haven for your family to thrive in.
This is the three-stage filtration system that is most commonly used in Brookfield. It directly addresses the most common water quality issues that are found in Brisbane, including:
Sediment (grit, silt, and rust) that can block pipes and damage plumbing systems
Chlorine taste and odour caused by municipal water treatment systems
Heavy metals such as lead and copper are commonly found in municipal water supply systems.
Stage 1: Sediment Filter
The first stage of the filtration process is to remove the sediment, rust, and silt from your water. A sediment filter will help eliminate all of the particles that can clog your pipes and damage plumbing systems.
Stage 2: Water Softener
The second stage of the process is to reduce the number of minerals in hard water. A water softener makes it easier to clean surfaces, improves the lathering ability of soap, and increases the lifespan of appliances, such as kettles, hot water systems, and dishwashers.
Stage 3: KDF/GAC Filter
Stage three of the filtration process combines KDF and granular activated carbon. KDF is used to remove heavy metals and to reduce the levels of bacteria in your water. It also improves the taste and smell of your water. The KDF/GAC filter will work well for both under-sink and whole-home use.
